About Mossgreen Gallery

 

Mossgreen Gallery is located at 310 Toorak Road near the corner of Chapel Street in the hub of Melbourne’s South Yarra retail and lifestyle zone.
The landmark building has three spacious gallery levels accessed by a glass elevator. With stylish and contemporary finishes there is great natural light from the floor to ceiling windows.

Set back slightly from the street there is a front courtyard enclosed by classic Art Deco gates which allows extra space for clients to gather outside for preview nights in summer.In spring, summer and autumn, the space will functions with a café on Saturday mornings.

The gallery directors Paul Sumner and Amanda Swanson, have many years experience in the arts. Paul Sumner has twenty five years experience working in International and Australian Auction Houses, and was previously Managing Director of Sotheby’s innovative auction house in Hammersmith, London and before that was managing director of Sotheby’s Australia. Amanda Swanson has a Bachelor of Arts and ten years experience in fashion and the arts, most recently as the Manager of Arthouse Gallery in Sydney.

The Gallery exhibits and represents Australian Artists with an increasing emphasis on mid to late career artists where there is great client synergies with the secondary market operations of the companies auction wing- Mossgreen Auctions.

The gallery also holds annual exhibitions of  early Aboriginal art including bark paintings and artifacts.

Mossgreen offers the unique service of Arts related Promotional Management. This is ideal for high profile individuals who visit Australia and wish to engage Mossgreen to co-ordinate and manage press and marketing services.

In 2005 Mossgreen managed the highly successful retrospective exhibition and Sydney visit of famous British photographer Lord Patrick Lichfield.

Mossgreen was also instrumental in managing the visit to Australia recently by Tatiana Faberge, the great-grand-daughter of Imperial Russian Jeweller, Peter Carl Faberge.

Mossgreen Collection encompasses both Design and Art, combined together with the focus on exemplary design. Our Annual catalogue exhibition : By Design features fine Art, design, decorative art and furniture which is sourced both Internationally and Australia-wide. The aim is to exhibit all facets of design together, thereby creating an intriguing exhibition where clients can view potential works set up in as urban contemporary interior, knowing each piece is unique in the world.

Paul Sumner has twenty five years experience working in International and Australian Auction Houses, and was previously Managing Director of Sotheby’s innovative auction house in Hammersmith, London and before that was Managing Director of Sotheby’s Australia.

 

Amanda Swanson has a Bachelor  of Arts (Fashion Design) and twelve years experience  in fashion, marketing  and the arts industries. She managed her own couture jewellery and accessory design business for five years prior to assisting and managing various commercial art Galleries in London, Sydney and Melbourne.

Erica joined Mossgreen in 2005 and has a Bachelor of Arts (Music) and a Diploma of Modern Languages (French). She is currently completing a Masters in Art Curatorship at the University of Melbourne.

 

Deanna has a Bachelor of Business from the University of Adelaide, majoring in International Business and Marketing. She has extensive experience in the arts industry, beginning at Sotheby’s London and later Sotheby’s Melbourne, working in both the finance and marketing departments as Finance Assistant and Advertising and Production Manager. Most recently, she was Gallery Manager for Savill Galleries, Melbourne.

 

Sarah Fransella has a Bachelor of Arts from Monash University and a Masters of Communications from RMIT. She has extensive experience in the auction industry, most recently as Christies Melbourne representative and prior to that, working in Auction administration at Christies, London, focusing on auctions in the UK, Europe and Hong Kong for nearly four years.

As Mossgreen's Reception and Administration Manager, Louise Duncan brings to her role a strong administrative background, which covers all aspects of database management and client liaison. Her expertise in these areas ensures a high level of service to clientele at all times.

 

Tara has a Bachelor of Business from La Trobe University. She has extensive experience in sales and retail management, focussing on client relations and client services.
Tara joined Mossgreen in 2008 as Personal Assistant to the Director, Paul Sumner.
